Biography
Dzikamai is a human rights strategist and leadership expert with over 16 years of experience in African civil society. He specializes in organizational strategy, transitional justice, and sustainable movement building, helping organizations navigate complex political transitions and build resilient governance systems.
Recently, he concluded a successful tenure as National Director of the Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) (2020–2025). He took the helm at a critical juncture and spearheaded a successful institutional turnaround, restoring financial sustainability and strategic focus to the country’s largest grassroots movement. His mandate concluded with a historic milestone: managing the succession to the organization’s first female National Director in its 34-year history, Ms. Gillian Chinzete.
Simultaneously, he served as Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP). A key highlight was steering the organization through a delicate leadership transition, overseeing the succession from globally celebrated human rights icon, Jestina Mukoko, to current Director, Perlagia Kapuya.
Having successfully handed over the baton, he is now focused on strategic advisory, writing, and leadership development. He currently documents his reflections on African governance at The Civic Lens (www.theciviclens.org).
He has partnered with regional bodies including the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (SA), the Berghof Foundation, and GIZ. He is a member of Reimagine Peacebuilding, a global collective transforming peacebuilding architecture.
