Introduction
This course focuses on ongoing efforts to address past human rights violations through advocacy, policy and practice. It explores key areas such as truth recovery, reparations, criminal accountability and memorialisation.
Working closely with human rights defenders, the course creates space for exchange across contexts, with a focus on strategies used to confront impunity. It also reflects on the South African experience and draws broader lessons for the continent.
The course places particular emphasis on linking past injustice to present challenges, and on identifying pathways toward more effective and sustained accountability.
